Training Centre
IFMTTC, the first of its kind in India, run by NEED SERVICES, The Agriculture Machinorium is offering free field demonstration to the farmers on latest technologies so as to help raise agricultural productivity. IFMTTC for training farmers, intended as facilities that would educate farmers, giving room to achieve financial success as well as inhibiting the widespread exodus from rural areas. This centre is located on 27 acres site at Kolarpatty village, Nagamangalam Post, Manikandam via, Trichy Dist., Tamilnadu, India.
Vision: To Advise, Educate, Inform, about Omnifarious Utilization of the agriculture machineries. This is for transformation plan for the agriculture sector, moving from agriculture to agribusiness.
Mission: Organizing field demonstration at IFMTTC by inviting farmers directly and through Dept. of Agriculture, Dept. of Horticulture, Agriculture Engg. Dept. and various Agriculture Farmer Associations. All the farmers will know the usage, method of operating and availability of the machines in short period at one place.
Field demonstration is grouped in to 4 types.
1.Machineries for Land/Seed Bed Preparation – Subsoiler, Reversible plough, Mould Board Plough, Disc Plough, Duck Foot Plough, Cultivator Spring Type, Cultivator Rigid Type, Trailed Disc Harrow, Rotary Tiller, Power Harrow with Ridger, Reversible Leveler, Bund Former, Surry Ridger, Quick-fit Cage Wheel & etc.
2.Machineries for Planting & Plant Management – Zero Till Seed cum Fertilizer Drill, Multi Crop Planter, Power Weeder, Post Hole Digger & etc.
3.Machineries for Harvesting & Post-Harvesting – Reaper (Tractor Mounted), Paddy Thresher, Multi Crop Thresher, Maize Husker cum Sheller, Shredder (Sugarcane Leaf Cutter) & etc.
4.Machineries for Horticulture – Hedge Trimmer, Pole Pruner (Manual), Pole Pruner with Engine, Chain Saw, Bio Shredder with Engine, Knapsack Sprayer, Sprayer Hi-Tech (ISI), Rocker Sprayer (Manual), Power Sprayer – Portable, Power Sprayer with Honda Engine, Tea Harvester, Power Cutter, High Pressure Washer, Weed Cutter, HD Weed Cutter, Power Weeder – Mini Tiller, Honda Rotary Tiller + Pair of Wheels, Earth Auger + 6” & 8” Bits, Lawn Mower & etc.
Mechanized agriculture is the process of using machinery to massively increase farm output. In modern times, powered machinery has replaced many jobs for merely carried out by men or animals such as oxen. Current mechanized agriculture includes the use of trucks, tractors etc. The need for mechanization is as a result of global population increase which must be fed. It improves the production efficiency by reducing cost per unit of product, encourages large scale production and improves the quality of farm produce.
In India, almost 70% of people are engaged in agriculture and largely depend on men or women in the field. But due to labour scarcity, people are forced to go for mechanization. The main aim of IFMTTC is to educate the usage of the machineries & inculcate the method of operating the machines in farmers mind.
IFMTTC focuses on providing training to farmers and related to sustainable and alternative agricultural systems. IFMTTC specializes in providing training- locating, accessing, organizing and distributing information related o many aspects of agriculture. The new information that farmers given through field demonstration makes their daily farming activities much easier which leads to an increase in productivity and bigger profits in the long run.
Here, farmers are being attracted by live field demonstrations and trained by highly qualified technicians and professionals. Farmers are taken due care by the centre, offering tea with snacks and lunch. IFMTTC is conducting Farmers Training Programme and Live Field Demonstrations twice in a month. Planning to conduct the same once in a week from November for the current year 2010-2011.
Future Plan: IFMTTC is planning to have tie up with agriculture university to start training course on mechanization of agriculture and issue certificate to farmers. For this purpose, IFMTTC plans to construct building for class rooms ,accommodation etc. to bring lively atmosphere.
IFMTTC believes that it will adequately meet farmers need for increased knowledge and skills in areas that will improve their income base as well as the nation’s food security. IFMTTC welcomes feedback from farmers with respect to the training.
